I was really curious about this lens after reading this Tamron 70-300 VC review because I wanted to know if it was worth upgrading to this model. I owned the older model without the vibration compensation but if this was the only new feature, I did not think that it would be worth buying the lens again. According to the review, I read Tamron put a lot more effort into this updated version however and apart from the vibration compensation, the lens now also boasted a ultra sonic drive. This feature had me really excited as I had previously only heard of Nikon or Canon lenses that had anything like it. What it does is ensure that the lens is able to focus much faster and quieter than before which is obviously very desirable to photographers. The review also stated that the lens was a lot sharper than the previous version so I immediately ordered it and sold my older version.

A good compliment to this lens is the Tamron 17-50 VC lens which you can read on this Tamron 17-50 VC review page. I knew that Tamron would do something spectacular to celebrate their 60th anniversary but I could not be any happier when I heard that they would be releasing an update for one of my favorite lenses. The lens is much more than just a simple upgrade however and come with a ton of new features as well as some quality improvements. The vibration compensation means that camera shake is no longer a worry and blurry photos will be a thing of the past. The ultra sonic motor on the other hand means that taking quality shots is now faster and quieter than ever before. Image quality has also been improved and I do not know if they changed the glass but photos taken with this lens look a lot sharper than the previous model. This means that even if you own the older model this lens is definitely worth buying.
